Session Description

Residents generally don’t love paying higher taxes. So how do we help voters understand the value in a tax increase without violating legal boundaries of educating versus advocating?! We’ll explain the approach that the Johnson County, Kansas public information office took to using Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor to educate voters about a 1/4-cent sales tax increase, which passed in Nov. 2016. Learn from our education campaign’s challenges and successes to improve yours.
