Back to 2017 Golden Post Awards
Every year, we make changes to GSMCON to continually improve the experience based on feedback. We have made changes to the 2017 Golden Post Award program this year.
The awards ceremony will now be included as a part of the regular GSMCON program and will occur during the afternoon general session on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Winning entries will have any accompanying visuals displayed onscreen and we’ll talk about what made the winners stand out. Not having an awards dinner allows us to have a ‘free night’ on Wednesday night. We learned that many of our attendees wanted to have a night to themselves to explore the city, meet up with new friends, etc.
The category “Best Use of User-Generated Content” has been re-named “Best Use of Crowdsourcing”. It also encompasses the methods for collecting citizen feedback via social media.
We will no longer accept entries for the “Top Elected Official on Social Media” and “Top Social Media Advocate in Government (Non-Elected)” categories. Instead, the awards committee select an honoree for the Top Social Media Advocate in Government award. The committee will consider outstanding individuals who have stood out over the past year for their contributions to government social media.
There will be no voting period this year to select a “crowd favorite” among the finalists. Although we loved the extra traffic that our website received during the voting period, there were too many troubles with the voting platform.
