Dionne Waugh is the Digital Communications Manager for the Jefferson County, Colorado, Sheriff’s Office where she has managed the social media and served as a backup public information officer since 2014. Prior to that, she spent more than six years as a public information officer and unofficial social media manager for the Richmond, Virginia, Police Department. She has spoken about law enforcement and social media at several of conferences across the country in addition to happily helping anyone in public safety who has social media questions. One of the things she is most proud of is creating two law enforcement social media groups in Virginia and Colorado to help those in government better understand and use social media.
Waugh is a former newspaper reporter who wrote about crime, police, and the court system for several years. That experience and an ingrained curiosity for what makes people tick has fueled her desire to improve communication between people.
