The Local Host Committee (LHC) is an exciting new part of the Government Social Media Conference (GSMCON) for the 2019 event. While the LHC is new for GSMCON, it is common for many national events to utilize a group of local volunteers who can use their networks and expertise to help expand the event’s impact in the area. In her role as PIO, she is responsible for all of DIDD’s video and social media endeavors, which tell the stories of Tennesseans with disabilities and promotes services to support them to live fulfilling and rewarding lives.

Jennifer Casey, Emerging Media Specialist

Town of Collierville, Tennessee

Jennifer Casey is the Emerging Media Specialist for the Town of Collierville’s Public Information Office, writing content for traditional and online communication, and covering creative messaging through graphic design, photography, and videography. In her five years with the Town of Collierville, she launched the Town’s email newsletter and annual report website, contributed to the social media growth across all platforms by an average of 70%, and played a vital role in the 2014 digital marketing campaign for Collierville’s title as “America’s Best Main Street” by Parade Magazine.

Josh DeVine joined the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in 2014 and oversees internal and external communications, social media, and community relations for Tennessee’s lead law enforcement agency. Josh joined the TBI after a career in television news, which included stops in Clarksburg, West Virginia (near his hometown) and Flint, Michigan. In 2009, Josh landed in Nashville, where he worked for more than five years at the NBC affiliate.

Jason Harmon, from Lebanon, Tenn., has been with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency for 11 years. He is the Digital Media Specialist in the Communications Division and host of the agency podcast, “Tennessee WildCast.” Jason manages social media, helps with website content and design, and shoots/produces video and photos.

Elizabeth Hart began working in radio at WJAB, 90.9 FM, in 2001 as a news reporter while pursuing her undergraduate degree at Alabama A&M University. A love for journalism and medicine led Hart to career in health communications beginning with a position as the Media Coordinator for the Indiana University School of Medicine followed by several years as the Director of Marketing for the Indiana State Department of Health.
